Plan your next VAIL session
This companion guide takes a different angle on VAIL, pairing observations about each mode with hands-on comparison exercises. Work through these activities to sharpen your VR shooting, understand how progression flows between free and paid content, and judge each component on your own terms.
01 / THE GUIDE
Drone Watch Log
Run Extraction a few times and note where drones patrol on each descent. Compare how early spotting affects how much you retrieve safely, then reshape your route planning around what you observed.
- Observe drone movement before committing to a retrieval.
- Go for high-value data caches first.
02 / THE GUIDE
Weapon Rotation Drill
In Training Grounds, work through the weapon pickups on one map in a single session. Track how quickly you adapt to each one and which loadout modifiers change your results the most.
- Rotate through the available weapons to see which suits you.
- Use loadout modifiers to practice adapting to unfamiliar setups.

04 / THE GUIDE
Free vs. Paid Comparison
After getting VAIL Combat, play one team-based match and one free-for-all match. Compare your comfort level, pacing, and results against what you experienced in the free modes to see where you perform best.
- Master a few maps before branching out to the rest.
- Keep an eye on unlocked rewards to guide your sessions.
05 / THE GUIDE
Duel Skill Ladder
Queue several 1v1 battles in the Social Hub against different opponents. After each duel, write down one tactic that worked and one that failed, then deliberately test the successful tactic in your next match.
- Confirm your VR setup and tracked controllers before a session.
- Use family sharing so other accounts on your library can try the title.

03 / THE GUIDE
Quarry and Green Study
Split a Social Hub session between mini-golf rounds and ORE shard extraction from the quarry. Note which activity feels more consistent for you and how the shard rewards accumulate over time.
