Plan your next Madrun session
Our independent guide breaks down Madrun’s core components—levels, items, modes, online rooms, and control settings—so you can observe how each element influences race outcomes without relying on hidden tricks or paid upgrades.
01 / THE GUIDE
Level Exploration
Run each of the twenty themed levels once in Time Attack. Note which platform gimmicks affect speed, then revisit those levels in multiplayer to see how the same features impact item usage.
- Try a level you haven’t mastered yet; the random generator may pair you with unfamiliar obstacles that test different skills.
- Watch how each level’s gimmick influences item timing as you race toward the flag.
02 / THE GUIDE
Item Timing Study
In a Local Duel, deliberately fall behind to collect a high‑tier item, then record how quickly you can deploy it for maximum disruption of your opponent.
- If you fall behind, prioritize reaching a “!” block to gain a powerful item.
- Deploy items immediately after collection; delayed use reduces their impact.

03 / THE GUIDE
Room Type Comparison
Create both a public and a private Online VS room. Observe differences in player mix, chat activity, and race pacing to decide which environment suits your preferred level of chaos.
- Use Local Duel to practice item timing with a friend before entering Online VS.
- In Time Attack, focus on consistent routes to improve leaderboard rankings.
04 / THE GUIDE
Control Preference Test
Change the default key bindings to a layout you use in other games. Perform a short Time Attack run to confirm comfort before entering competitive Online VS matches.
- When hosting a private room, share the exact name with friends to avoid unwanted participants.
- Encourage all players to vote on a level you all enjoy; the random selection keeps it fair.

Display Mode Observation
Switch between full‑screen and windowed modes while racing. Watch for any visual differences that might affect spotting items or platform hazards.
- Adjust key bindings to suit your comfort before entering a competitive match.
- Turn off the minimap if you prefer a cleaner view of the race.
