Plan your next Balatro session
Treat your next Balatro run as a series of scoring checks. After each shop, explain which hand you expect to play, where its chips and Mult come from, and whether it can handle the next target. Keep that explanation short enough to revise as the shops change. The exercises below help you spot a missing component early and compare real scoring results with a promising combination that exists only in your plan.
01 / THE GUIDE
Predict the hand before discarding
Look at the current cards and name both the hand you are pursuing and a fallback. Before discarding, identify which replacements would help and check the remaining deck when useful. Play the result and compare how many resources the plan consumed. Prefer a repeatable approach if the stronger-looking option repeatedly costs most of your discards.
- Read the Blind target before selecting cards.
- Use Run Info to confirm hand categories.
- Keep a fallback hand when chasing an uncertain draw.
- Judge your score against the next target, not only the current one.
02 / THE GUIDE
Give each Joker a scoring job
Review the current Joker row and label each card by what it contributes: chips, added Mult, multiplication, income, or another useful effect. Check activation conditions and order before the next hand. Watch the scoring sequence and identify a slot that contributes less than expected. Use that finding to guide the next replacement rather than shopping without a target.
- Identify what each Joker contributes to the current engine.
- Check conditions before buying an apparently large bonus.
- Inspect Joker order when your final Mult looks unexpectedly low.
- Replace weak support only after the new plan scores reliably.

03 / THE GUIDE
Set a purchase budget before rerolling
At the shop, estimate whether the current build covers the next Blind. Name the missing improvement and reserve enough cash to buy it if offered. Reroll only while the remaining budget still supports that purchase. After the Blind, check whether the saved money or immediate spending actually helped the plan you had named.
- Estimate whether the next Blind is already covered.
- Keep enough money to buy the improvement you are seeking.
- Stop rerolling when the remaining budget cannot support a purchase.
- Compare an income Joker with the scoring slot it occupies.
04 / THE GUIDE
Make one deck edit measurable
Choose a Tarot, Planet, or other available effect that supports your main hand plan. Before using it, state what should become easier: drawing the hand, meeting a Joker condition, or reaching a score. Observe the next few relevant hands. Keep the comparison focused so an attractive animation does not substitute for a useful result.
- Spend Planet upgrades on a hand you can actually play.
- Check remaining cards before committing to a narrow draw.
- Use deck edits to reinforce existing Joker conditions.
- Read a consumable fully before selecting its targets.
05 / THE GUIDE
Write an answer to the upcoming Boss
Read the Boss effect before the final shop and identify which part of your usual routine it affects. Name a legal fallback hand or another concrete response available in the current run. Make purchases around that answer, then reread the restriction before selecting cards. Afterward, review whether the preparation solved the actual problem.
- Check the upcoming Boss before leaving each shop.
- Identify the one restriction that would disable your engine.
- Keep a usable alternative when your strategy is narrow.
- Review which component failed after a lost run.
